Once upon a time in a small village lived a greedy dog named Rover. Rover was always hungry and never satisfied with what he had. One day, while wandering through the town, he stumbled upon a butcher’s shop with its door slightly ajar.
The dog and his shadow
The aroma of freshly cooked meat wafted through the air, enticing Rover. Unable to resist, he sneaked into the shop and found a large bone hanging from a hook. Greedily, he grabbed the bone in his mouth and dashed out of the shop.
A hungry greedy dog
Proud of his find, Rover trotted off to find a quiet spot to enjoy his treasure. As he reached a bridge over a swiftly flowing river, he noticed his reflection in the water. Mistaking it for another dog with an even bigger bone, he growled, thinking it was trying to steal his prize.
“A greedy dog with a piece of meat”
In his attempt to scare away the other dog, he barked loudly, but as he opened his mouth, the bone fell into the river with a splash. Rover watched in dismay as his prized possession disappeared into the water. His greed had cost him dearly, leaving him with nothing but regret and an empty stomach. From that day on, Rover learned the hard way that greed leads to loss.
