Story the Jester and the King

Once upon a time, a king had a jester (comedian) مزاحیہ اداکارin his court. The King بادشاہwas so found شوقینof him that the jester enjoyed every kind of liberty of speech بات کرنے کی آزادی. He did not spare معاف نہ کرناthe lords and ministers. So much that he began to ridicule طنز کرنا even the king but no one could dare جرآتto complain against him. This had made the jester bold بہادرand proudمغرور. He cared for none وہ کسی کا بھی لحاظ نہ کرتا تھا .

One day, while the king was holding courtدربار لگایا ہوا تھا and was busy in a serious state of affairs ریاست کے سنجیدہ معاملاتthe jester, made fun مزاق اڑاناof the king. Dead silence موت کی سی خاموشیfell on the court. The king got highly offended سخت ناراض ہواand sentenced سزا سنانا the jester to death. The jester bent down نیچے کو جھکا over his knees and begged for mercy رحم کی بھیک مانگیbut the king was so angry that he turned down انکار کر دیا his request.

At last, when the jester pleaded رحم کی اپیلfor mercy again and again the king said, “Die you must but I grant you the freedom to choose the kind of death you like.”

The clever jester چالا ک بھانڈat once used his ready wit شاطر ذہنand took good advantage فائیدہ اٹھانا of the concession saying. “Your Majesty! میرے آقاI choose to die of old age.” The king was impressed متاثر ہواand forgave معاف کرناthe jester with a warning for the future.

Moral: – “It never pays to overreach yourself”
